Nathan Bolton was a former Special Operations Engineer deploying twice to Afghanistan with Australia’s Special Forces. After numerous traumatic situations, the high achieving, and confident Nathan would return home a fragmented shell of his former self, struck down by PTSD, Depression and Anxiety. A battle which almost cost him his life.
However, after hitting rock bottom, Nathan finally became aware of the rigid stoic views that were stalling his recovery, and although a torturous journey, it also bared a gift of no comparison. Here, he not only learned to overcome his demons, but to also began to use the pain of his past to support others walking down the same road.
Nathan is now a mental health advocate who promotes mental health awareness, stigma reduction, and help seeking behaviours. He uses the experiences he went through the mistakes he made, but more importantly the lessons he learned along the way to prevent others from languishing needlessly, and to shed light on the true strength and power of vulnerability.
