Chris Killick-Moran (Suicide and Self-harm Monitoring Unit, AIHW) and Mark Davies (lived experience representative) will co-chair this symposium. It will present key findings from five bodies of work on suicide and self-harm monitoring, both within the AIHW, and in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and Latrobe University.

This presentation highlights findings from two studies conducted using linked data in the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Person-Level Integrated Data Asset (PLIDA) and the AIHW National Integrated Health Service Information Analysis Asset (NIHSI AA).
Identifying changes in suicide trends over time: an application of statistical process control methods using real-time data.
This presentation builds on previous research to identify spatiotemporal suicide clusters using real-time data, and highlights new results from collaborations between the University of Melbourne, the AIHW, and States and Territories.
Suicide monitoring in serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who have served since 1985
This presentation updates the ongoing AIHW study of serving and ex-serving ADF members with at least one day of service since 1985, compiled by the Department of Defence from current and historic payroll systems. This data was linked with the National Death Index and National Mortality Database (both held by the AIHW) to determine the number of deceased personnel and cause of death
Indigenous Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Clearinghouse
The Indigenous Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Clearinghouse was established to enhance and improve access to First Nations mental health and suicide prevention evidence. It collates evidence about effective efforts to improve mental health, suicide prevention and social and emotion wellbeing for First Nations people. It also publishes relevant program evaluations and contains a register of research, evaluation and data.
Suicide and Self-harm Data on Priority Populations Under the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement
This presentation will highlight recent publications relevant to three priority populations: suicidal thoughts and behaviours and self-harm amongst LGBTIQ+ Australians; Suicide among refugee and humanitarian entrants and other permanent migrants, and; suicide among people who used disability services.
