Dayna Faraonio
Dayna Faraonio is a PhD Candidate at Flinders University in the College of Medicine and Public Health. She is a wife and mother of two young children, aged six and eighteen months, who owns and operates a small business, with her husband, in Adelaide, South Australia.
In 2020, Dayna obtained her Bachelor of Medical Science from Flinders University, with a double major in Human Physiology and Neuroscience, and Microbiology and Immunology, in which she received a Chancellors Letter of Commendation. In 2022, Dayna received a First Class Honours with a University Medal and a Chancellors Letter of Commendation for her research into suicide prevention through the My Access to Psychological Therapies Suicide Prevention Program (MyAPT-SP); a program which combines common psychological therapies with the involvement of a trusted other, and mobile technology, to monitor the thoughts, moods and behaviours of those who have experienced a recent suicide attempt.
Dayna is an early career researcher, passionate about making living with a mental illness easier for those struggling. Her lived experience with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Post-Natal Depression (PND), anxiety and suicidal ideation, as well as her experience caring for family members with a history of mental illness has developed her empathy for people with mental illness and their support network, and allows her to view research from various perspectives.
