Estela EF Fuentes
Estela, founder of Mariposa Trails, a mental health and suicide prevention project for cross-cultural communities in South Australia, brings over two decades of experience in Indigenous studies and community development. Her work includes serving as a Gambling educator with migrant and refugee communities and contributing to multicultural mental health programs at Relationships Australia. Currently, as a trainer with CORES Australia, she focuses on developing community engagement programs for Spanish-speaking communities.
Driven by personal experiences, Estela's passion for suicide prevention led to the establishment of Mariposa Trails, promoting cross-cultural approaches to mental health. She has curated a network of bilingual trainers, providing workshops and resources to support community understanding.
Recognized for her dedication, Estela has been honored in the SA Women's Honour Roll. Mariposa Trails collaborates with Community Led Safe Spaces and Roses in the Ocean, using arts and music to connect with diverse communities. Estela trains musicians to serve as important messengers in suicide prevention efforts.
Her commitment to inclusive learning extends to her role as a facilitator for various organizations, where she supports diverse learning needs. Currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Suicidology at Griffith University, Estela continues her journey in mental health advocacy and community support.
