Pippa Stevenson

Pippa was employed by the New South Wales Police Service for sixteen years before being medically discharged with PTSD and depression in 2012. In 2019, Pippa completed a Bachelor Degree in Health Promotion and in 2023 completed a Master’s Degree (Qualifying) in Social Work. Pippa worked in the Drug and Alcohol Service of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) before acquiring her role as the Suicide Prevention Manager, Zero Suicides in Care in 2020. As well as implementing components of Zero Suicides in Care into ISLHD Pippa has worked closely with local NGOs and suicide prevention services to encourage improvements across the community. Pippa has worked hard to become the first health district in New South Wales to implement the Suicide Care Pathway in their Emergency Departments for Mental Health, Community Mental Health and Psychiatric Emergency Care Centres. Pippa is passionate in including the voice of lived and living experience in the work that she does. She believes this is an integral part of her work and she continues to strive to provide opportunities for collaboration. Pippa is committed to ensuring the work she does improves the Illawarra Shoalhaven community response to suicide and reducing the stigma to mental health.
