Michele Orr
Michele Orr is a Nurse Practitioner and Manager in Adult Community Mental Health, Brief Intervention Team and HOPE teams (Suicide Prevention). Michele has been working in public mental health for more than 30 years. She has a living experience caring for a family member who lives with mental health that has impacted their life.
Michele is known internationally for her growth of the Solution Focused approach in public mental health programs, particularly in suicide prevention and brief therapy options for people in metropolitan Melbourne. Michele continues to be the Solution Focused supervisor to the Brief Intervention Team and HOPE multidisciplinary teams. She has managed to have the Solution Focused approach embedded in the models of care in numerous mental health and wellbeing programs. She has been integral in the development of the Zero Suicide strategy at Eastern Health.
Michele presented at the National Suicide Prevention Conference 2023 in relation to the inaugural Accreditation by Suicide Prevention Australia of two public mental health programs.
Michele is passionate about promoting people’s mental health using the Solution Focused approach through training, supervision and therapy.
