Nikki Jamieson
Nikki Jamieson is a Suicidologist, Social Worker, PhD researcher and international author exploring moral injury and veteran suicide in Australia following the suicide death of her veteran son Daniel in 2014.
Nikki is leading innovative research on moral trauma/moral injury and its relationship to veteran suicide and has published widely on the topic nationally and internationally. Nikki has delivered keynote/workshops nationally and has worked strategically across a range of government areas in suicide prevention. Nikki has also been involved in a range of research projects in suicide prevention including work on the development and implementation of Queensland’s Suicide Prevention Plan.
Nikki is actively involved in suicide prevention advocacy and policy development with memberships nationally, internationally, and locally with International Association for Suicide Prevention, Suicide Prevention Australia, Standby, and Postvention Australia.
Nikki continues to advocate heavily for better mental health and wellbeing and suicide prevention for defence members and veterans and continues to shape future strategic directions, including work relative to the Royal Commission for Defence and Veteran Suicide.
Nikki’s hope is that her research will help to positively influence veteran mental health and wellbeing for the future and to ultimately save at least one family from living with suicide bereavement.
